Try these low carb snack recipes to mix up your post weight loss surgery routine!

Celery and Cottage Cheese

Instead of using chips or fruit with your cottage cheese, try using it as a dip for celery. The cool crisp flavor of the celery pairs well with the saltiness of the cottage cheese. Celery has minimal calories, but is packed with vitamins and cottage cheese provides 8 gm of protein per 2 oz. serving.

 

Greek yogurt with Chia Seeds and Cinnamon

Greek yogurt is a tastier, creamy version of regular yogurt and it packs protein. Since much of the liquid is removed, it is lower in lactose (the carbohydrate source in dairy) and higher in whey (the protein in dairy). For an extra 5 grams of fiber, add 1 Tbsp of Chia seeds, and cinnamon for some added flavor.

 

Part-Skim String Cheese

String cheese is not just for kids! It is a great snack to carry around in your purse when you feel the need for a snack. Just one part-skim string cheese stick contains less than 1 gram of carbohydrates and 80 calories.

 

Curried Edamame

This is a nutrient-packed, crunchy alternative to traditional party mix that saves you 7 grams of carbohydrates per 1/2 cup serving and has 4 times as much fiber. It keeps well in the refrigerator, but it’s also good to eat on the go.

 

Ingredients:
3 cup shelled edamame beans
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp curry powder
1 dash of salt & pepper

Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Toss edamame beans, olive oil, curry powder, salt, and pepper together in a bowl until the beans are thoroughly coated. Spread out on a baking sheet and roast for 15 minutes.
