Make Family Time a Wii Bit More Fun!

November 29th, 2012 Posted in Exercise, post weight loss surgery tips, Post WLS tips, Uncategorized, weight loss surgery

As the holidays grow near, parents everywhere are hearing the pleas from their children for video games. Since our patients drastically change their lifestyles after weight loss surgery and have a considerable amount more energy, I often hear reluctance to buy video games. Post weight loss surgery patients want to set a good example and provide more physically active activities.

That being said, the physical games offered on Wii are different animals and I believe should not be lumped into the same cateogry as most of the other mind-numbing, time sucking games (no offense to the Halo fans out there). Of course playing an active game on the Wii isn’t as good as getting outside and getting a good workout. But it is definitely a good alternative, and let’s face it…it’s fun. It is also a great oppurtunity to spend quality time with the family.

The importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship are the final nail in the coffin as you “Be Yourself. Be Unique. Be a Monster!”
