Setting Priorities

ProritiesDuring this time of year, we are supposed to be celebrating the Holiday season and it turns out all the celebrating also causes everyone to go mad with added stress. What tends to be the common theme among post weight loss surgery patients this season is that they are so busy with work, holiday parties, and shopping that they are having difficulties eating healthy and “not finding time” to exercise.


Now, I have to admit that this time of year is not the only time that I hear people justify their actions because of their intense work schedule, taking care of kids, etc. Now, I know that you can’t change your daily work schedule or send your kids off to boarding school, but you can start to change your priorities and plan ahead. At the end of the day, when there is a will there is always a way. Scheduling Pilates class should now be a priority just as much as planning your last meeting at work or meeting for drinks with coworkers. Planning your meals and making sure you have the proper food you need to meet your goals should be on the top of your list for things to do on Sunday. If you want to increase your weight loss or see yourself achieving your goal, you must change the way your look at your life and schedule to meet those goals.


The one thing I say to all the patients is to be something that many tell them not to be. That is selfish. Sometimes you just need to put yourself and your health first over anything else, when we typically do the opposite.
