Want to make your friends and family  happy and also healthy this year? Here is our gift guide to help you do just that.

For the nutrition nerd:

1. Give them a subscription to a CSA or home-delivery organic produce box.

You may want to see what is in the recipient’s area, but now most areas have farms that have a community supported agriculture program that you can subscribe to. There are also companies who contract with farms on the West Coast and put together a produce box that can be shipped directly to your home. If you live in the Bay Area, Farm Fresh to You or Circle Farms are two great examples. Buy a 1 month, 2 month, or even year subscription for your health nut friend! They will think of you every time it comes to the door.

2.  Give them a DIY garden project.

Growing vegetables at home have been all the rage lately, and there many kits out there to make tomatoes at home to row of herbs that you can grow right on your kitchen counter. One of my favorite growing kits is the Mushroom Kit that lets you grow about 1 to 1.5 pounds of pearl oyster mushrooms. Mushrooms are not only tasty, but they also provide cancer fighting, cholesterol-lowering and immune boosting properties. They are also super high in Vitamin D, which is hard to find food sources of in the diet., $19.95

Other ideas for the nutrition nerd: Whole foods gift cars, fun kitchen gadgets such as a zucchini noodle maker , high end coffees and teas, or possibly a visit to a registered dietitian in their area.

For the fitness lover:

1. Tech friendly fitness gadgets.

Others ideas for fitness gadgets: Nike Fuel band, FitBit, and BodyBugg.

2.  Workout shoes that they won’t want to take off!

Reebok Men’s Crossfit Nano 2.0,, $109.99

3.  At home workout programs that are fun!
